Jellyfish Alert: Swim Safely!

While Port Barton boasts beautiful beaches, swimming directly from the main shore can be risky due to jellyfish. Look for purple flags indicating safe swimming zones or opt for island hopping tours for clearer, jellyfish-free waters. Reddit+1

Reviews Summary

Port Barton is praised for its beautiful, uncrowded beaches and laid-back atmosphere, offering a more authentic Palawan experience. However, visitors should be aware of jellyfish in the main bay, making island hopping tours essential for swimming. Food can be a bit pricey, and the presence of dogs on the beach is a recurring concern for some.

"Lovely spot with plenty of shade on the beach; but beware kids and adults not advised to swim apart from on islands due to jellyfish. Kind of spoils idyllic family stay which this place really could be.
People and safety are great.
Food options plentiful and well-made but getting expensive for where we are. Food costs more than accommodation.
Too many dogs fighting and barking. They hang around your table with staff no regard to send them on their way. Dogs trying to climb chairs, steal food or stand above your kids isn’t welcome.
Quite a bit of trash in the beach at lower tide.
Suggest take an island trip or go camp and fish for the night with kids and a bonfire 🏕️
If you want a sea-swimming destination, this isn’t the beach."

"Gorgeous quiet beach, beautiful sunset views… sadly there a lot of jellyfish ( poisonous) with purple flag so you can’t swim freely. However it’s still really worth to visit"

"If you want to escape the crowd in Puerto Princesa/ El Nido, Port Barton then is the answer/your to go.In booking your tour, the boat owners/ managements strictly adhere the protocols/guidelines set by Ph Coast Guards. The island visited were all amazing, the water is crystal clear and the marine biodiversity are also great (I have no underwater photo/shots). Saw a lion fish, turtle, corals are huge like a house, stung by jellyfish, different species of fish. All in all, Great nature adventure at Portd Barton."
