"08/24/25 Discovery of the oldest church in Quezon City. ✝️
As an avid fan of historic Spanish era churches in the Philippines, I have overlooked Quezon City as a possible site.
Recently I was made aware of this old church when we were pointed to this church for marble comfort crosses to be held when one is in challenging circumstances.
This was a happy discovery. The Minor Basilica of San Pedro Bautista started as wood and thatched roof chapel in 1590.
The present church is not Baroque in design since its latest rebuilt was made in 1931. Although the inner courtyard still has remnants of its pre colonial structure.
The church has an impressive retablo and domed ceiling."
