🕹The Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park is located in the municipality of Sibulan, Negros Oriental, Philippines. Specifically, it lies within Barangay Enrique Villanueva, approximately 14.5 kilometers west of Dumaguete City.

Visiting Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park was truly a magical and refreshing experience. Despite the occasional light showers and the slippery road on the way up, my partner handled the drive with care and skill, making our journey safe and smooth. The misty weather actually added to the charm of the trip — it felt like we were being slowly embraced by nature.

As soon as we arrived, we were captivated by the serene beauty of the park. The twin lakes — Balinsasayao and Danao — are nestled amidst lush mountains and thick forest, making the view almost surreal, like something straight out of a postcard. The calm, mirror-like surface of the lakes reflected the surrounding greenery, creating a peaceful and dreamlike atmosphere.

We took the short trail that winds up and down through the forest toward the second lake. It was an easy hike, filled with the sounds of birds and the scent of fresh earth. The trail led us to a cozy viewing hut situated between the two lakes — a perfect spot to pause, breathe in the fresh air, and take in the panoramic view. Standing there, with water on both sides and thick forest all around, we felt completely in awe of nature's quiet grandeur.

The park is part of a protected natural reserve, home to various species of birds and endemic plants, making it an ideal place for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, and anyone looking to escape the city and reconnect with the natural world.

This visit reminded us how much beauty the Philippines holds — sometimes hidden, often overlooked, but always worth the journey. Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park is not just a destination; it’s an experience that soothes the soul and inspires gratitude.🙏🫰🤍

Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park in Negros Oriental has been officially recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park. This prestigious designation was granted on November 29, 2024, making it the 13th such park in the Philippines and the first in the Visayas .

Covering approximately 8,016 hectares, the park encompasses two crater lakes—Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao—surrounded by lush tropical forests. It serves as a sanctuary for over 427 species of flora and fauna, including 14 globally threatened bird species such as the Critically Endangered Negros Bleeding-heart Pigeon and the Visayan Wrinkled-billed Hornbill.

The ASEAN Heritage Park status underscores the park's exceptional biodiversity and ecological significance, highlighting its role in regional conservation efforts. This recognition also emphasizes the importance of preserving such natural treasures for future generations."
