While some visitors find it lacks major attractions, others appreciate its charm and potential for building a life there, especially after settling in. The railway station itself is noted as being adequate for transit needs.
"It is not a bad city, and there is everything beautiful and good, if you live here for a year, you can get used to it and live here for the rest of your life, everything you need is there. You can find normal people and build something of your own there."
Веніямин Марценюк
"Kielce is a small city, it is the capital of Świętokrzyskie Voivoideship. I had been in Kielce for my Erasmus+ programme for around 5 months.
There are several places to visit; churches, historical buildings at around Rynek (city centre), and city's famous UFO shaped bus station.
There are two universities that I know, Jan Kochanowski University (Uniwersytet Jana Kochanowskiego w Kielcach) and Politechnika Świętokrzyska. First of which is the one I studied, and I would recommend having a visit to its rectorate building.
Many people do not speak English, so prepare yourself for some język polski. People around the city are really nice, helpful and kind.
Also, in some buses, contactless card option is not available and you'll need the exact amount.
(If you're a student, it's 1.70 PLN for in-centre travel; if you're not, then it's 3.40 PLN. Double that if you're travelling outside the centre)
Overall, it was a great adventure, and I would recommend to visit this city. It's worth it.
And, if someone comes to you and ask for some złotych, say that I don't carry cash with me. If possible, say it in Polish. They'll understand, smile and go away."

"The station is ok but wouldn’t recommend visiting the city in general. Nothing interesting going on."
