What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the breathtaking Gothic architecture and ornate interior of St. Catherine's Church, often describing it as a hidden gem. The free entry and peaceful atmosphere are frequently highlighted as positives, though some note the exterior appearance doesn't fully prepare you for the interior's splendor. The presence of orchestras during visits has also added to the memorable experiences for some.
"This Roman Catholic church is in the old Jewish Quarter of the Kazimierz district of Krakow. The brick and stone church is a stunning example of Gothic architecture that dates to the 14th century. We were quite impressed when we went inside and saw the soaring vaulted ceilings, intricate stone carvings, and the vibrant stained-glass windows. Students of architectural design will marvel and admire the intricate frescoes adorning the walls or the church’s 4-bay basilica built in a pier and buttress structure. We did see a bulletin board, which indicated that there are many concerts and cultural events hosted here throughout the year. Regardless of your faith, the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking beauty of St. Catherine's will leave you feeling inspired and uplifted. We recommend visiting their website for hours of operation, but we believe it is open daily. There are no public restrooms, and we did not have to pay a fee to visit. Finally, it appears to have a monastery attached to the church but we do not believe it is open to the public."

"Although the outside appearance of the church is not very nice, the inside is really beautiful. When I entered there, there were a lot of people with musical instruments in their hands. I think they were orchestras. I don't know why they were there and what they were going to do, but it was a beautiful view inside. I definitely recommend you to go."

"Most impressive gothic architecture of a basilica in all of krakow.
It is open to all visitors free of charge.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re into cultural sites."
