Reviews Summary

Matejko Square is praised for its historical significance and picturesque setting, offering a blend of impressive monuments and charming architecture. Visitors appreciate its accessibility and the surrounding cafes, making it a pleasant spot for a stroll and photography. Some note the lack of on-site facilities.

"This relatively small square is located to the north of Krakow Barbican and contains two important historical monuments honoring Polish heroes. The square is named after one of Poland’s most celebrated painters, Jan Matejko. The square is surrounded by beautiful examples of Gothic architecture to admire as you stroll along a very wide north/south walkway lined with park benches and eight patches of grass turf. There are several large shade trees at the north end of the square and to the west that offer some shade from the sun. The park is open 24 hours a day, but there are no restrooms or play areas within its boundaries. Still, the square offers a beautiful view of the monuments with the Barbican in the background. Finally, make sure to check out the 3D brass model of the development plan for the square, which is located at the north end of the square."

"Relatively small square with good history"

"A nice square in the center of Krakow, just off the walls of the old town and about a hundred meters from the main train station of the city. It provides a good spot for comparing the architectural difference between the medieval and the modernist urban planning designs and fads. It is also one of the more prominent Instagramable sites in Krakow. It is definitely one of the highlights of the city and it is worth a visit and a snap"
