What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Ethnographic Museum Toruń for its well-maintained historic buildings and engaging exhibits that vividly portray the lives of Polish ancestors. The open-air format and the accessible windmill are particular highlights, offering a tangible connection to the past. Many appreciate the free Wednesday admission and the helpfulness of the docents.
"This museum helped us imagine the lives of our Polish ancestors.
We spent an hour or so wandering the well-maintained grounds, which is mostly comprised of original thatched buildings relocated from elsewhere. Each one is decorated and tells a story of the kind of people who lived there — from the poor to the well-to-do. Forges, kilns, barns, workshops, mills, and even a fire station round out the picture. We especially loved getting to see the internal mechanics of the windmill.
Be sure to load up the audio guide before exploring.
Multiple docents keep an eye on things and send you in the right direction. A couple spoke enough English to answer our various questions.
Nearby there’s a park, a cafe, and a piano awaiting players, making the ramble beyond the old town walls well worth the time for tourists."

"There are a lot of old village houses from the entire Poland in the park. Some of them are opened, so you can see how people lived in Poland earlier. The wind mill is opened for visiting too. I like it so much. This is wonderful place not far from the Old Town."
