What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Ludo Trail's stunning natural beauty, particularly the chance to see flamingos and diverse birdlife. The accessibility from Faro and the peaceful atmosphere are frequently praised, though some note occasional confusion with private property signs. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for nature lovers.
"Great trail through the salt marshes of Faro. Easy access from the city center, plenty of free parking at the trail head, lots of birds to spot. Sometimes confusing when it is private property and public access but follow the locals and don't cross fences and you'll be alright."
Mark Vanautgaerden
"The Ludo trail and surrounding area is absolutely stunning. We walked for miles and miles spotting loads of birds and wildlife. As others say, avoid any areas that say “private property” and follow the locals, it’s pretty easy to work out where you can/can’t go. One minor note is it’s no longer a true loop as some of the original trail across the salt flats now appears to be private property that you can no longer access. We came here twice on our holiday and absolutely would come back for more. Beautiful part of the world ❤️"

"Beautiful trail. There are some sections with “private property” signs near the salt pools but locals ignore them, so just go along with the trail. The flamingos are usually at the salt pools, according to a local guide. Was fortunate enough to spot 4 of them from afar :)"
