Reviews Summary

Barcelos' Thursday market is a massive, vibrant event offering a huge variety of goods, though it can be very crowded and chaotic. Visitors appreciate the sheer scale and the opportunity to find unique items, but warn about significant traffic and parking challenges on market days. The historic centre offers a charming, more relaxed experience.

"If you are familiar with South European outdoor markets, this is no different. Except for the size of it - Quite big, but the products very much the same."

Karin Abel

"Gigantic Market! They sell plants, food, and pretty much everything else including chickens and rabbits. I'm giving it 3 stars because we took Uber from Braga to get there; no problem getting out of Braga, but, as we got closer to Barcelos, we hit bumper to bumper almost stopped traffic. It was so slow and taking so long that we asked our driver to let us out so we could just walk there. That was an excellent decision. So many people and cars everywhere with lines of people outside the doors of restaurants. When it was time to leave, there was no Uber or Bolt available, so we took the bus back to Braga. Again, so much traffic but we were up high in the bus so we could at least see out. Just be prepared for traffic, lots of people and a HUGE amount of everthing!"

Tia Gibson

"A huge market that attracts a lot of people.
You have to be patient to find a parking space, then wander through the aisles... very noisy.
For young children, I strongly recommend a stroller or baby carrier.
Pets are allowed, but they get walked on because there's not much space in the aisles and they're very crowded.

Otherwise, there's a huge selection (dishes, clothing, food)."
