Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Torre de Menagem a worthwhile historical site, particularly for its commanding city views and glimpse into Braga's medieval past. However, inconsistent opening hours and occasional closures are a recurring point of frustration for many planning their visit.

"It was really cool for what it was.
I was not able to go inside, I’m not even sure if folks are allowed inside.
It is a sweet stone tower in the middle of old town."

James Mitchell

"This is the only surviving structure of the Antigo Castelo de Braga (former Braga Castle). A Gothic-style military tower, it stands 30 meters tall and contains three internal floors. Construction of the castle began in the 12th century during the reign of King Dinis of Portugal as part of a larger fortification effort. Additional work was carried out during the reign of King Fernando. The keep tower served as the central stronghold. Most of the original walls were demolished between 1905 and 1906 during a period of urban expansion, leaving only this tower as a remnant of the medieval fortifications."

Seokjin Ham

"The Braga Tower, (Torre de Menagem) is the only authentic surviving structure of the medieval castle. This 30-meter-high granite tower offers a glimpse into the defensive strength of the five towers that once guarded the city's medieval walls. From its top, it provides panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Although the rest of the castle was demolished in the early 20th century, the tower remains an important symbol of Braga's history and heritage."
