"We were really looking forward to exploring The Art of Open Doors in Funchal, especially after hearing so much about it. While there are definitely some creative and colorful painted doors scattered around the old town, we expected a bit more in terms of variety and overall impact.

It felt like a few streets had some cool pieces, but many of the doors were either unremarkable or starting to look a little worn. Maybe we just caught it on a quiet day, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype for us.

Still, it’s a fun excuse to wander through the charming backstreets, and we did find a few gems along the way. Just don’t go in expecting a full-blown outdoor art gallery."

"The artwork is amazing and the close allies and shops are all jammed with all sorts of vendors. The cafe honors are a bit pushy but that is the game in tourist towns."
