Meia Praia is celebrated for its vast, sandy expanse and safe swimming conditions, especially at low tide. Visitors appreciate the ample space, free parking, and the convenience of nearby eateries. However, the beach is no longer dog-friendly, which has caused disappointment for some. The afternoon wind can also be a factor for those seeking calm conditions.

"4km sandy beach is very safe for swimming at low tide. You can walk out quite far, and during the summer season there are lifeguard stations all along the beach. There are many places to eat and drink, and the railway line runs along the back of the beach to Lagos Station. It is best to check the wind speed because in the afternoon the wind can turn and come off the land towards the sea and get quite strong blowing the sand up and umbrellas into the sea locals go down early and head back to the pool in the afternoon on realy windy days."
