What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning natural pools and vibrant underwater life at Piscinas Naturais de Calhetas, calling it a unique and refreshing swimming spot. While the beauty is undeniable, some caution is advised regarding the slippery, sharp rocks and the numerous stairs for access. Occasional concerns about local fishing practices have also been noted.
"Use common sense, rocks are sharp, could be slippery. Not a good idea to swim in rough seas. Use at own risk if lifeguard isn't there. It's usually not crowded but if it is remember that you are also part of the problem. Respect the local customs which could include someone spear fishing for octopus."
Paul Pereira
"Wonderful place to enjoy a sunny day! Highly recommended to do snorkeling, lots of fishes and live underwater.
Stairs to get to the water. Lots of steps!
Has bathrooms, showers and small parking."

"The water was a bit cold, but the whole experience was unforgettable. Definitely the best spot for swimming in the ocean on the island — unique, refreshing, and truly one of a kind."
