Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Cerro da Vila as a 'hidden gem' and a 'cultured break' from the marina's glitz. The affordable entry, interesting museum, and informative guides are frequently highlighted. Some note the lack of shade and the need for comfortable shoes, while others appreciate the site's historical significance and the unique experience of events held there.

"What an incredible place, a hidden gem in Vilamoura.

This evening was an outdoor cinema experience, watching the classic movie Pretty Woman.

Organised really well & fully booked, this is the second year they have been running this event. You have to be on the guest list to attend but when you go, you will be amazed, a very special evening was had by all.

Fresh popcorn & soft drinks were there to purchase, the roman remains were showcased with ambient lighting."

"Highly recommend it! Stumbled upon it by accident whilst walking around the marina. It was a nice cultured break from the flashy boats and overpriced bars in the marine. Really interesting to see something like this up close. Sensible footwear recommended and like someone else said, there is no shade so go early or late. An excellent museum showing artifacts and a great little walk round guide which is free. Cost us €2 to get in (student price) and the lady working there spoke fluent English."

Jessica Kilmurray

"Super Roman villa with nice pictures dotted around, showing what the villa and it's rooms and bathing rooms would have looked like. The ruins are quite a bit more extensive than those you can see through the fence to the museum. There is also a very small museum of artefacts due up at the site to view, including coins. The villa became an Islamic building after the Romans left it. Well worth a look for the very modest 4 Euro per person entry fee. There is also a free car park 1 minutes walk away, what's not to like."
