"To reach this place you need to leave your car down in the valley, close to the bridge and restaurant and then walk for about 45 minutes. The hike is pretty easy and at the end you will reach the citadel located on the top of the hill. The view is nice but not stunning. You will be greated be the remains of the stone buildings of citadel. Not many of them, but still smething interesting. It would be great to add some information boards, s tourists could read about this place. That is why before visiting i recommed you to go to museum in Deva, where you can acquire some knowledge first."

"The Dacian fortress of Costești-Blidaru, located at about 750 meters in the Orăștie Mountains, was built in the 2nd century BC as part of the defensive system protecting the Dacian capital, Sarmizegetusa Regia. Constructed using large stone blocks in the murus Dacicus technique, it features a trapezoidal layout with two defensive walls, six square towers, and a massive bastion controlling the main entrance. The fortress was designed not only as a military stronghold but also as a permanent garrison: archaeological evidence reveals cisterns for water storage and warehouses for provisions, ensuring survival during extended sieges. From its elevated position, Costești-Blidaru commanded wide views over the valleys, allowing constant surveillance and communication with neighboring fortresses. Today, although in ruins, the site remains an impressive testimony to Dacian military engineering and organization. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is accessible by foot from the village of Costești, offering both historical value and striking natural scenery."
