What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views of Brașov from Tâmpa Mountain, calling it a must-see. The hike up is considered rewarding, though the cable car's frequent closures can be a drawback. Many recommend going early to avoid crowds and enjoy the scenery.
"Great hike up the mountain. The lift is under repair this year, so you need to hike. This is the best view of the Old City and worth the effort! Leave before sunrise, if you can!"
David Shuman
"We went there on a Sunday, and bought the return ticket for the cable car. There was a line before us of about 35 people although we went quite early in the morning. While coming back we saw a huge line and the waiting time would have been more than hour easily. So I would recommend to go early especially during the tourist season. The view is from the top is worth it. There is still a bit of a steep walk (about 150 - 200 m) from the cable car to the BRASOV sign and there are no benches to sit and relax near the viewing platform.
If you are visiting Brasov, I would recommend taking the cable car to the city viewing platform"
Kushal Jain
"A must view point to appreciate and understand the Old Town of Braşov.
We took the lift up the mountain for 20 lei per person, and we came down the foot path and took us 35 minutes. No bears in sight!"

The Tâmpa Cable Car Experience
It's crucial to check the cable car's operational status before your visit. While some sources suggest it's under repair for the entire year, this can change. Always verify locally or through official channels. If the cable car is closed, the hike becomes the primary access method, which is a rewarding alternative for many.

Wear comfortable hiking shoes as the terrain can be uneven and steep. Bringing plenty of water is essential, especially during warmer months, as there are limited facilities on the mountain. While bear sightings are rare, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings and follow safety guidelines. The descent can be done via the same trail or by exploring other paths, offering a different perspective of the mountain's flora and fauna.
