What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Breite Ancient Oak Tree Reserve for its impressive collection of ancient oaks and its accessibility from Sighisoara. The free entry and picnic facilities are a big plus. However, the presence of bears requires significant caution, and some found the 'terrible' road conditions challenging.
"Nice little trail outside of Sighsoara. Well marked with tiny T signs. The ancient oaks were interesting. Would have preferred more forest hiking, but was spooky in the morning. See brown bear prints kept me out. When I returned, the hotel said, "Never hike there alone. Last month, a female hiker was killed by a bear. It was far from here, but as you can see, there are bear." Certainly worth the hike. But, good to be aware."

"As far as nature walk goes it’s definitely light and a 10/10 if you’re coming from Sighișoara. There is no specific sign or perimeter telling you where the oaks are. They are basically everywhere on the plateau. At the intersection there’s a really big one that has grown in such a way that you can sit on it. Me and gf called it “Copaci”. Please do the same 🥹"

"We visited the 800 year old tree. The “Granpa” tree. The road was terrible but the tree were awesome. Reminder: Follow the signage."
