Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Dacian Fortress of Costești to be a historically significant site with remarkably preserved ancient walls and an interesting water collection system. However, many note its poor maintenance, lack of tourist infrastructure, and sparse information, making it a destination best suited for dedicated history enthusiasts who can manage expectations.
"The Dacian fortress of Costești is a fascinating historical site, especially because the original Dacian walls are still clearly visible. One of the most interesting features is the ancient water collection system near the steps, which gives you a glimpse into the engineering skills of the Dacians.
Unfortunately, the site is very poorly maintained. There are no guides, no clear informational signs, and overall it gives the impression of being neglected, with a very, very limited budget. It's a shame for such an important part of history to be left in this condition.
Still, it's worth visiting if you're passionate about ancient history — just don't expect any kind of tourist infrastructure."

"I arrived during working hours, and two barking dogs greeted me. The guard was there—he came to the door of the security booth at one point but didn’t move from there. I couldn’t get out of the car because of the dogs (I have a dog myself, so this isn’t a new situation for me). He could have come to help us with a short piece of information, that would have been fine, but he didn’t do that."

"Really liked this UNESCO site! Info is sparse, but the history of Romania before the Romans is here :) It is beautiful, mysterious and not super popular so you have it for yourself basically.
You need to really like old stones and world heritage sites though.
Do not visit the capital before coming here or the disappointment will also be capital. But the nature around the place and the walk are nice"
