"Since the 1960s, the Flower Clock is a symbol of the city, a historical monument, being one of the few still functionable flower clocks from Romania. The clock was made by a local watch-maker and it is embellished with more than 60 hundred flowers from 20 different species. The 5m diameter clock is connected to a power source which moves the needles. The only period, when the clock is not functioning is the winter holiday period, as then, the clock is replaced by a giant Christmas tree. According to experts, the flower clock of Târgu Mureș /Marosvásárhely is considered to be a historical monument, being one of the few similar clocks in the country, which is still operating today."
