Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Arctic Convoy Dervish Memorial a poignant and historically significant tribute to the brave sailors of the Arctic convoys. Its location on the Severnaya Dvina embankment adds to the reflective atmosphere. While the monument itself is the primary draw, the surrounding river views enhance the experience.
"The monument to the participants of the Arctic convoys, that delivered cargo to the USSR via lend-lease, was erected in Arkhangelsk, on the Severnaya Divna embankment, on August 31, 2015 - on the 74th anniversary of the arrival in Arkhangelsk of the first allied convoy "Dervish", which left Liverpool on August 12, 1941. The monument is dedicated to all the participants of the Arctic convoys - the British, Scots, Irish, Americans, Canadians, Norwegians and French, living and dead, who made an invaluable contribution to the common victory over Nazism."

"Read a book “ The Ghost ships of Archangel” tells the story of PQ-17. One of the convoys the British left undefended to try to survive the German war machine. William Geroux is the author."

"The monument is installed on the embankment of the Northern Dvina in the area of the Peace Square. The location was not chosen by chance - it was here in the Northern Dvina roadstead that the ships and vessels of the first allied convoy "Dervish" dropped anchor on August 31, 1941."
