Going to the museum has been one of the most shaping influences on my life. The incredible works of beauty, especially at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston where I spent most of my weekends growing up into my adulthood, are powerful teachers. "The name "A. Borisov Museum of Artistic Development of the Arctic" didn't impress me, and to be honest, I wanted to quietly leave. It's a good thing I didn't.
In the end, I visited a very interesting museum!
I hadn't heard of A. Borisov's work before, but it turned out he was a great man who glorified our Russian North through his paintings.
The museum features a large collection of paintings that help immerse you in the atmosphere of the North—this harsh, yet beautiful land.
The museum's exhibits are designed so that as you walk through the halls, you're introduced to the stages of Arctic development through the artist's biography.
A stunning museum, with modern design and authentic paintings that immerse you in the life and nature of the Arctic.
Overall, I never regretted visiting this museum."

"I can confidently say that this is my favorite museum in Arkhangelsk. It delights with both its permanent exhibition and the constant introduction of interesting new exhibits. The staff is knowledgeable and polite. Taking a tour is a true pleasure. Besides the captivating narrative, you'll instantly be completely immersed, as the entire space is dedicated to the exhibition. The windows, even the floor and ceiling. The entire space is incredibly well-designed and engaging. I highly recommend it."

"If you are in Arkhangelsk, the A.A. Borisov Museum of Artistic Development of the Arctic is a place you can’t miss.

Despite the fact that the exhibition is small and is located in several halls on two floors, even without a tour you can spend a couple of hours in the museum enjoying the magnificent paintings.

The museum has a staircase of desires, imitating the road to Solovki, ask the museum staff, they will be happy to show it and tell you a very interesting story.

I want to add to the review. It so happened that in 2024 I was again in Arkhangelsk and decided to visit this wonderful museum again. And for good reason. Once again I am convinced that this is an amazing space. You can look at the landscapes of the northern latitudes endlessly, like fire. They awaken layers of energy of incredible depth, so that, leaving the museum, you feel reborn, as if you yourself were a participant in the northern expeditions. And nature caressed you with its icy breath, revealing that very primeval source of life. Such a basis can still be found in Roerich, or in Kuindzhi, for example.

So go, you will definitely not regret it!"
