What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the monument's historical significance, honoring the hero Alexander Peresvet and offering excellent panoramic views of Bryansk. Some note that the site could benefit from renovations to improve its condition and aesthetics.
"Monument to Alexander Peresvet
The hero of the Battle of Kulikovo was a native of the Bryansk land and a monk of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. Therefore, a monument to the warrior Peresvet on the high bank of the Desna on Pokrovskaya Mountain is quite appropriate. However, the monument appeared only in the late 80s of the last century for the 1000th anniversary of the city. Next to him, like Sancho Pasa, is the singer Boyan with his gusli. A monument to the holy martyr Peresvet was erected near the Trinity Cathedral."

"Bryansk. Alexander Peresvet - Russian warrior monk, monk of the Trinity-Sergius Monastery. Together with Rodion Oslyabya he participated in the Battle of Kulikovo. He was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church as a monk. So sit and think about what this Bryansk boyar on horseback is doing here..."
