What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Oka Nature Reserve is praised for its beautiful, pristine nature and clean air, offering a peaceful escape. Visitors appreciate the opportunity to see bison and cranes and explore the historical Brykin Bor estate. However, some find the infrastructure and service lacking, with specific criticisms regarding animal enclosures and a lack of on-site dining options.
"Oka Nature Reserve is located in the Meschera lowlands, the floodplain of the Oka River and the Pra River. With extensive lowland rivers and forested peatlands, the reserve is an important area for waterfowl and waders. The reserve hosts breeding centers for bison and for crane."
Mrs. Valeriya Gray
"Picturesque place, but poor service and infrastructure. Personnel wasn't friendly - everything is forbidden and things like that... Cranes are kept in awful cages, so kids can't normally see them. Fences must be changed to glass or something. As for bisons - there were only two lazy ones that weren't moving at all :) And of couse behind a fence not suitable for kids. No restaurants in area. So, many things to be done, guys... many things to be done..."

"A magical place! The pristine nature pleases the eye. You can visit the museum, walk in the forest or by the river, sign up for an excursion to the nurseries of rare species of cranes and bison. In the main estate, Brykin Bor, there are underground ruins of the old Russian-Belgian glass factory. I think absolutely everyone will find something interesting here! Around the reserve, a protected zone of almost 24 hectares has been established, as it is home to birds and plants included in the Red Book of the Ryazan Region. The walk left unforgettable impressions, we will return more than once!"
