"He was the leader of the White Army, which was trying to protect Imperial Russia, and fought against the Red Army, the Bolshevik revolutionary army led by Lenin. He was captured in Irkutsk and ended his life by being shot. During the Soviet Union, a communist country, he was branded a reactionary and his name could not even be mentioned, but times have changed and his statue stands tall like this. It is in front of the Znamensky Monastery.

"A simple metal cross with an information plaque stands on a small cape where the Ushakovka River flows into the Angara River. From a historical perspective, the site's significance is undeniable. The downsides: it's difficult to get to (especially in winter), and there's a boat station nearby, along with enclosures with guard dogs that will happily bark at you both on the way there and back, and right at the cross itself.
P.S. Why do they always forget that Pepeliaev was executed along with Kolchak?"
