"The museum is located in a historical place, in the building of the Meshchanskaya Uprava. This building was built back in 1904 according to the design of engineer P.D. Afanasyev for the local government body – the Meshchanskaya Uprava. In May 1905, meetings of the first citywide Council of Workers' Deputies in Russia were held here, created during the general political strike of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk workers. Since 1919, various institutions and then communal apartments were located in the building of the Meshchanskaya Uprava. In 1967, the building was transferred to the Regional Department of Culture and on November 4, 1967, a museum dedicated to the first Council of Workers' Deputies was opened here. In 1981, a re-exposition of the museum was held and the memorial furnishings of the Meshchanskaya Uprava of the early 20th century were restored, which existed until 1990. Then, a permanent exhibition "Man. Soul. Spirituality" functioned in the museum for several years. In the late 1990s. the museum was closed again for a re-exposition. In 2005, 100 years passed since the events of the first Russian revolution and the first city council of workers' deputies in Ivanovo-Voznesensk. During these May days, the Museum of the First Council was born for the third time. When recreating the museum, materials from the collection of the famous Ivanovo collector and philanthropist D.G. Burylin, numerous photographs from private collections, as well as documents from the State Archives of the Ivanovo Region were used. Currently, the museum has an exhibition "On the Waves of Our Memory", which has no analogues in the region (Ivanovo and neighboring regions). The exhibition is dedicated to the everyday life of Soviet citizens. The concept of the exhibition involves demonstrating two sides of Soviet reality - official and private, their interaction, penetration and rejection. Judging by the enthusiastic reviews, the project finds an emotional response and is popular not only with city residents, but also with numerous tourists: "Kommunalka is an amazing exhibition! Layers of time, life, destinies... This is our childhood, the childhood of our parents. Here everyone cried, laughed, quarreled, went to war, returned from camps. A huge layer of life... Thank you for the exhibition. Collected with love, thoughtfully, with soul.""

"The #jointexcursions project visited the Christmas tree at the Museum of the First Soviet. We felt the atmosphere of a home-cooked or kindergarten New Year's. The fairytale characters greeted us with a warm, welcoming, and homely atmosphere. A live Christmas tree, childhood games, paper snowflakes and cotton wool snowballs, cartoon songs, and wafer candies—how lovely... Or, as they say now, how cute! And most importantly, the children were so happy!
We also saw the woodcarving exhibition "Carved Fairytale." We even visited a communal apartment. Overall, we had a wonderful time! Thanks to the museum staff for bringing us joy!"
