Reviews Summary

Visitors are captivated by the Bridge of Sighs' iconic beauty and poignant history, often seeking out the best vantage points from the canals. While its romanticized legend is a draw, some find the external views somewhat limited without a palace tour. The surrounding Venetian atmosphere enhances its appeal.

""Lady's Caprice" is a location that you must definitely visit, it is a romantic landmark of the resort town of Kislovodsk. They conduct excursions to it, show it to guests, organize events, one of the recent ones is an exhibition of the painting by Viktor Vasnetsov "Olkhovka River".
However, walking along the lower part of the National Kislovodsk Park, you will not be able to pass by "Lady's_caprice", since another well-known location is located here - the staircase
"400 steps" leading to the observation deck of Sosnovaya Gora.
This bridge has an interesting legend. The legend explains why the landmark has such a flirtatious name.
Once upon a time, a long time ago, back in the days of Lermontov and Pushkin, there was no bridge here. The only way to cross the turbulent bed of the Olkhovka River was to wade down slippery stones. And if it was easy for men to do this, then for women in long dresses the process caused some inconvenience. Once upon a time, a lady got capricious and refused to take off her shoes and cross to the other bank. The gallant gentleman had to carry the beauty in his arms and promise that there would soon be a crossing here.
There is another version of the legend. According to it, there were several capricious ladies. The ladies refused to lift their dresses - in those days, exposing your legs was the height of indecency, so the men lay down on the rocks and built a "living bridge".

In general, the bridge across the wayward river appeared in 1892. The reason was prosaic - a severe flood that destroyed all the park bridges on Olkhovka. Strengthening the right bank led to the fact that it became impossible to cross the river even in the old way. There was only one way out - building a bridge. The structure, although simple, looks elegant thanks to the openwork railings. 😍😍😍The authorship is attributed to the chief architect of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, Yakov Lukashev.
A few years later, the structure was named "Ladies'_Whim". The bridge was rebuilt after the First World War. The next reconstruction was in the 1950s. In the 1960s, the landmark acquired stone abutments and a grotto made of natural stone, "Kissing Corner", was built next to the bridge.
Location: in the lower park, terrain path No. 1."

"The "Lady's Whim" bridge is located in the lower part of the Kislovodsk resort park. It spans the Olkhovka River and is an elegant structure with delicate railings. From here, you can observe the river's turbulent current. A route along the other side of the bridge leads to a stone grotto. This unique bridge is a favorite photo spot for vacationers."
