"Amazing historical site"
Robert Agee
"If you've explored the entire terrain path and don't know where to go next, be sure to visit this museum. It's not large, but it's very interesting. It's probably the only historical site in Kislovodsk."
Наталья Евгеньевна
"The place has a very strong energy. The city of Kislovodsk was founded here. During the Great Patriotic War, there was an evacuation hospital here. Now there is a museum here. There is also a museum inside the fortress itself. On the territory there are a number of military weapons (a ZIS-3 cannon and a regimental machine gun) and three units of heavy military equipment - a T-62 tank, a BMP-1 and an BTR-70.
Entrance to the territory is free. Entrance to the fortress-museum itself is paid (there are also paid excursions with guides - much more interesting, because they tell a lot).
It is not far from the resort park - 5-7 minutes walk. If someone is by car, then there is a free parking nearby, next to the temple.
For general development, I recommend looking at and visiting the fortress. You can also do it with children 👌🏻👍🏻 - I think it will be interesting for children to look at / touch / climb on military equipment 👍🏻"

A Glimpse into History
Beyond its founding role, the fortress played a crucial part during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). It was repurposed as an evacuation hospital, a vital center for healing and recovery amidst the conflict. The museum dedicates a significant portion of its exhibits to this period, offering a poignant look at the sacrifices made and the resilience shown.
Today, the fortress serves as a museum, preserving and showcasing artifacts that tell these diverse stories. From archaeological finds to ethnographic displays and military remnants, the museum offers a comprehensive, albeit sometimes eclectic, journey through Kislovodsk's heritage.
Exploring the Exhibits
A significant focus is placed on the military history of the area, particularly its role during the Great Patriotic War. This section provides a somber yet important reminder of the fortress's wartime function as an evacuation hospital.
Outside, the fortress grounds are adorned with impressive military hardware. Visitors can get up close with a ZIS-3 cannon, a regimental machine gun, and larger vehicles like a T-62 tank, a BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle, and a BTR-70 armored personnel carrier. These outdoor displays are a major draw, especially for younger visitors.
Visitor Experience and Tips
For a richer experience, taking a guided tour is highly recommended. Guides can provide context and fascinating details that bring the history of the fortress to life, making the visit much more engaging than simply wandering through the exhibits alone.
Families often find the fortress particularly appealing due to the outdoor military equipment. Children can enjoy looking at and even climbing on the tanks and cannons, making it an educational and fun outing for all ages.
