What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Krasnodar Regional Library for its vast collection and the enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff who share its history with passion. The library's transformation and resilience are highlighted, making it a significant cultural landmark. While the square is a pleasant public space, some may find the library building's exterior less striking than its interior offerings.
"Krasnodar Regional Universal Scientific Library named after A. S. Pushkin is the largest public library in Krasnodar. It was created in 1900, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poet A.S. Pushkin. The first librarian was I. A. Kuznetsov. The initial fund amounted to 2807 volumes. The library had a fee.
In 1920 the library became free. By 1940, the library's collection amounted to 116 thousand copies. During the war, the Germans destroyed over 85 thousand books, newspapers, and magazines. The library building was damaged by explosions and fires.
In 1956, the library moved to a new building, where it is currently located."

"Pleasant guides (or rather, how to say it correctly) tell stories with enviable enthusiasm. Such people are called "people of action". More of them! The building itself seems deader from the outside, only once inside you realize the scale. There are a lot of collections. "Museum Night" opened a new museum world for me. Thank you!"

"Очень приятное место, ощущение домашней обстановки, книжки потрясающие, самые интересные все тут есть в наличии, огромный выбор пед. литературы причём той самой антикварной в отличном состоянии, с радостью вернусь сюда, всем рекомендую! Приходила сюда на выставку на свой день рождения, очень понравилось!"
