What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lake Chebarkul is widely praised as the most beautiful lake in the Chelyabinsk region, lauded for its picturesque scenery, diverse coastlines, and the unique historical significance of the 2013 meteorite fall. Visitors appreciate the variety of landscapes and the potential for both secluded relaxation and access to amenities. However, some reviews point to a lack of equipped recreational areas and issues with litter on the shores, suggesting a need for better waste management.
"The most beautiful lake in the Chelyabinsk region and the site of a meteorite fall. Picturesque, with many islands, very large in length, with a variety of coastal landscapes. There are sandy beaches, pebble beaches, peninsulas and bays. And what beautiful forests are on the shores of this lake! You can find places where there will be absolutely no one for a secluded holiday, or places with bases and hotels where excellent service is provided - for every taste. On the far shores of the lake is the Ilmensky Nature Reserve. In the forests on the shore there are many animals, berries and mushrooms, and in the lake itself there is a lot of fish. The water in the lake in summer is warm enough for swimming, but there is a lot of algae."

"Beautiful lake. In good weather, walks along the lake shore give you a boost of energy for the whole day. It's good that it's in the city. But places for recreation for city residents are not equipped in any way. The shore is simply littered with plastic bottles, bags, and there are no containers for collecting garbage. It’s a pity that those who come to relax on the shore of the lake don’t clean up after themselves."

"It was February 15, 2013, I was fishing with my family on the lake when, out of nowhere, a meteorite fell, I got scared and went to check..."
