What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the beautiful church and its stunning Oka River views, often highlighting the spiritual significance of the holy spring. While the location is picturesque, some find the approach inconvenient and parking limited. The historical aspects of the church are also appreciated.
"A very beautiful Church!!"
Nikolaos Prodromidis
"A small church overlooking the Oka River, the Nikolo-Naberezhnaya Church (also known as Nikola the Wet), as the taxi driver called it. It's unlikely to flood even during the Oka's heaviest floods, but the chapel, located just down the slope, with a spring and baptismal font, could very well be there. The church is attractive, but the approach is not very convenient, and parking is only for a few cars. A little further down the slope is a memorial to border guards. A path leads across to an observation deck overlooking the Oka River and to the monument to Ilya Muromets."
Goramino
"Beautiful view. You can walk to the temple from the embankment - there is an inconspicuous equipped path.
A little below the temple is a holy spring. Unfortunately, we did not get inside (we were there on Sunday at 5 pm) - I think services are not held regularly.
Parking is spontaneous, there are no equipped places."

A Glimpse into History
During the Soviet era, the church faced closure in 1940 and was repurposed as a warehouse, even housing a poultry farm for a time. Thankfully, in December 1990, it was transferred to the Vladimir-Suzdal Diocese, allowing for its restoration and return to religious use. The church's main shrine is a particle of the relics of the Holy Righteous Juliana of Lazarus, Murom, making it a significant pilgrimage site.
Exploring the Sacred Spring
Travelers have noted the presence of wild mint on the shore near the spring, adding to the natural beauty of the location. The spring is considered a key attraction for those seeking spiritual solace or simply wishing to experience a unique natural and religious site.
