The foundation stone and the first stage of construction were carried out by the Irkutsk artel of Pochekunin under the customer, Archpriest Efimy Vikulovsky. The construction of the cathedral was completed in 1835 with the participation of its headman, the author of the famous "Kuznetsk Chronicle" I.S. Konyukhov. The temple was built for 43 years, which affected its architectural style, which includes the classical tradition. The uniqueness of the temple was emphasized by the abundance of baroque domes. The architecture of the cathedral, with its strict proportions of volumes and restrained decorative and plastic design of the facades, embodied the style of classicism with elements of the late "Siberian Baroque".
