"The station is beautiful, an architectural masterpiece and a historical monument. However, the wooden station building, designed by architect Karl Rachau, was destroyed by fire in 1903.
In its place, a brick building was erected in 1905, designed by architect Sima Minash. He also designed the Vitebsky Station in St. Petersburg.
Rybinsk Station, built in the Art Nouveau style, has been preserved since its construction and is still considered one of the finest station buildings in Russia. Just under 10 years ago, the station was restored: the stucco, tiles, gilding, and covered platform were restored. The Rybinsk Puppet Theater is nestled opposite the station.
