Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the A. N. Bogolyubov Apartment Museum as a magical place with a welcoming atmosphere and rich artistic traditions. It's recognized for its excellent exhibition hall and engaging displays, making it a point of pride for Saratov's art scene. Some note the lack of a courtyard as a minor drawback.
"The Bogolyubov Drawing School was founded on February 11 (23), 1897. This event was a logical continuation of the development of the painting industry in Saratov, the first important step of which was the opening of the A.N. Radishchev Art Museum by A.P. Bogolyubov. During its history, the school was reorganized several times. After the October Revolution, for a short time it had the status of free art workshops and then the Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops. In 1920, it was reformed into the Artistic and Practical Institute, and three years later, into the Artistic and Industrial Technical School, renamed in 1937 into the Saratov Art School. In 1997, the school celebrated its 100th anniversary, which included returning the name of its founder, A. P. Bogolyubov, to the educational institution and moving it to a new building on Universitetskaya, which until 1991 housed the Higher Military Aviation School, historically part of the barracks complex of the provincial battalion, built in 1854-1856 (now a monument of urban development and architecture of regional significance). By 1998, it had undergone large-scale renovations, during which workshops, a library and exhibition halls were equipped. Today, training is conducted in three main specialties: painting, sculpture and design. Graduates of the school form the basis of the Saratov organization of the Union of Artists of Russia, many of whom work in art schools, in the field of advertising and design, and realize themselves in creativity after graduation. The school closely cooperates with regional cultural institutions, students actively participate in competitions, exhibitions and conferences of various levels. Saratov Art School is traditionally one of the best in Russia."
