"The center of Tarusa. A fair in honor of the city day. Clean. Unobtrusive music is playing. Almost all the houses around the square are pre-revolutionary. Surprisingly, they are in good condition. Old photos show views of this square during the Oka flood. Alexey Tolstoy mentions a square in the center of Tarusa, where an American tourist drowned in a pit. After which the mayor forced a local merchant to pave the street and the square. From here there is a beautiful view of the Oka, 50 meters from it are monuments to Paustovsky, Akhmatova, Tsvetaeva. A wonderful museum and a small antique shop. Go to the Moscow Zoo and see wooden sculptures of animals - their author is also from Tarusa."
