This is the city's main square, and it received its current name in 2018 in anticipation of the 700th anniversary of the heroic deeds of the holy and faithful Prince Mikhail of Tver. The square is semicircular, with three streets radiating out from it: Novotorzhskaya, formerly Kosaya Novatorskaya; Sovetskaya, formerly Millionnaya; and Volnogo Novgoroda, formerly Kosaya Novgorodskaya.

In the spring of 2008, a monument to the prince and patron saint of the city, Mikhail Yaroslavich of Tver, was erected on the square, designed by Andrei Kovalchuk.

The monument is beautiful and looks very impressive. The entire panorama of the square is excellent, making for beautiful photographs."

"The monument was erected a little over 10 years ago. It is located opposite the Tver Regional Administration. And, as it seemed, it is lost in the square."
