What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Siberian Cats Park for its unique historical significance and charming atmosphere. Many find it a beautiful and cozy place that honors the bravery of Siberian cats. While it's a simple square, its heartwarming story and peaceful ambiance make it a memorable stop in Tyumen.
"During the Great Patriotic War, there were almost no cats left in besieged Leningrad. The rodents ate almost everything in their path, blocked the movement of trams, destroyed precious grain and other products, attacked people, and destroyed paintings by great artists in the Hermitage.
As soon as the blockade was lifted, the “cat mobilization” took place. This time, murks and leopards were recruited in Siberia specifically for the needs of the Hermitage and many other Leningrad museums. In Tyumen, for example, 238 cats and cats aged from six months to five years were collected. Many people themselves brought their pets to the collection point.
In total, five thousand Omsk, Tyumen, and Irkutsk cats were sent to Leningrad, who eventually cleared the Hermitage of rodents."
