Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Museum of Russian Vodka Uglich to be an interesting stop, particularly for its extensive collection of vodka bottles and historical artifacts like moonshine stills. The guided tours, when led by engaging guides, are often praised for their humor and educational value, with the included tasting being a highlight. However, some visitors have noted the museum's small size and the potential for inconsistent tour quality or strictness regarding photography fees.

"The museum opened in 1999 on Uspenskaya Square in the basements of the shopping arcade.

The Uglich Museum has three small halls filled with themed exhibits and bottles, primarily vodka bottles, of various ages and sizes. For lovers of this drink, the display of recognizable bottles, especially from the past, is a delightful sight.

The vast collection of these items represents many regions of our vast country: Vladimir, Yaroslavl, Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Shuya, Samara, Bryansk, Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Tula, and Moscow. There are also some antique containers, a moonshine still, and various documents on the sensitive topic of drinking vodka, liqueurs, and wine.

But the exhibition focuses primarily on the bottles themselves. The famous entrepreneur P.A. Smirnov was born near Uglich, and the city became the birthplace of his family's business. The exhibition tells the story of the production and consumption traditions of this drink in its current state, but I wouldn't say it's particularly rich in facts.

We remembered an important thing!!! Alcohol is strictly poured into water, not the other way around. We captured the formula for 40C vodka; look for it in the photo!

Photography is a separate fee from the ticket price. The tour also includes a tasting of one drink and a snack of bread and cucumbers. Children are not allowed to drink, but they have a different ticket price, according to the law.

In general, it's best to plan your visit for the evening, as we did, so that the pleasant aftertaste can be enhanced, so to speak, with additional samples.

The museum's official address is on Rostovskaya Street, but the actual entrance is from Yaroslavskaya Street."

"The museum isn't large, located next to a liquor store. We were lucky – the tour was led by a man who gave an engaging story, although the original plan was to have a woman who likely knew nothing about alcohol or life. I'm giving it two stars only because of her – when I was about to take a photo of the sign, she rushed over and announced that photography was a fee of 100 rubles. This was a very strange approach, since the main purpose of this store tour is to inspire a desire to buy local liquor. Thanks to this anti-manager, I limited my purchase to two bottles of slivovitz, although I could have bought more – it ruined my mood. Incidentally, there's practically nothing to photograph there – just three small rooms in the basement, where a collection of liquor bottles from various manufacturers is displayed in glass cases, and the moonshine stills are primitive pieces of evidence. Five stars for the male tour guide's story."
