"This is the traditional museum of regional studies. Visit this place if you would like to have a better understanding of nature and history of the Ulyanovsk Region. The detailed historical overview starts from 17th century. You should plan your time to spend at least half an hour as the unescorted visitor, or an hour or more if you prefer to have a guided tour. The prices are very low. Consider purchasing some souvenirs at the museum or in the museum shop, which is in 20 Goncharov Street."

"The Ulyanovsk Museum of Local History and the Art Museum are housed here under the same roof. The building was built specifically for the museum; the museum itself opened in 1895, and in 1918 it moved to a new building, where it remains to this day. It's best to buy tickets to both museums at once to avoid returning to the ticket office at the entrance. A cloakroom is available. It's best not to arrive at the end of the museum's opening hours. Do so at least an hour before closing. I can't help but mention the museum attendant at the entrance to the Museum of Local History, where fossils and prehistoric skeletons are collected. She explains in detail what to see and draws attention to the screen. No one else will say a word to you in the museum; after that, you're on your own."

"I love this place! The art section of the museum in particular! I love climbing those stairs with their mantel clocks, hearing the creaking floors in the quiet, empty halls as you slip into another time, one-on-one with the beautiful paintings of the past, admiring the rays of the sun on the polished surface of old furniture sets, reveling in the intricacy of the work of the old Mason masters. Of course, not all the furniture has been restored, but it breathes antiquity, preserving the images of its owners. Yes, the caretaker won't tell you information about the paintings (you can always get an audio guide), but it won't hurt to leisurely wander from exhibit to exhibit, soaking in the wisdom of antiquity! It's a shame not everyone can come here now – a curated version is a must! But, truly, it's a wonderful place for art lovers!"
