Reviews Summary

Visitors find the museum informative and visually engaging, particularly appreciating the extensive collection of ancient icons and the historical ruins. While the lack of English signage is a drawback, the audio guide helps bridge the gap. Some found the audio guide's navigation slightly inconvenient, but the overall experience is considered worthwhile for those interested in Russian history and art. Reddit

"There is No English At All. Everything is Russian. But seeing the pictures, I can feel what they want to say. Novgorod was once Hanseatic hub in Moscow, and it was described as 'Window to Europe' at that time.(I am exchange student of Saint-Petersburg, and it was quite interesting to hear that). On the first floor, there are some ruins, things that are historical. We can see how they lived, what was the territory, and how they prospered. And there are ruins that say they were Hanseatic hub. Interesting. On the 2nd floor, we can see Icon(Икон). According to explanation, because Novgorod was not conquered by Mongolian invasion, there are lots of pieces made in since 11th century(?). And there is also some pieces that portrayed World War 2. For student, it is 180rubs on the board explanation. But they demaned 120rubs to me. I don't know why but maybe it was holiday(?)..."

"A good museum about the history of Novgorod. We took an audio guide, which seemed a little inconvenient, since we had to look for small numbers on the cards to select the desired audio track. It would probably be more convenient to select them by numbers on the exhibition itself.
In some places there is interactivity, you can touch it and play the harp. I want this more"
