What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are often struck by Vorkuta's unique Arctic setting and its stark Soviet-era architecture, finding it a visually compelling and historically significant destination. The Vorkuta Cultural Center is frequently praised for its vibrant performances and festive atmosphere, offering a bright spot in the city. However, some find the city's remoteness and economic challenges disheartening, and logistical issues like cloakroom policies can be a minor inconvenience.
"There's only one community center left in Vorkuta that's still functioning; everything else in the villages has long since closed or is about to close. The community center also needs renovations and new equipment, but the people who work there are still trying their best. We saw a wonderful performance of "The Little Mermaid"—it was beautiful, faithful to the cartoon, engaging, vibrant, and dynamic. The costumes were impressive, and the sets were beautiful. And the main character was incredible—she truly looked like the Little Mermaid in the water. Wow! Well done! Excellent performance! A huge thank you to the set designers, lighting designers, directors, scriptwriters—everything was fantastic, and, of course, to the director. Of course, I'd like to single out all the actors who took part in the performance. I was also impressed by Ursula, her gymnast assistant, and the other sea creatures—everyone was magnificent. Thank you for the performance!"

"Excellent cultural center. Excellent auditorium. Great decorations for holidays. The only inconvenience is that bags with change of shoes are not allowed in the cloakroom. If you want to change your winter shoes for slippers, you have to drag the bag with your boots along with you, and that is a real nuisance."
