"The Rotunda is one of the buildings of the main department of the hospital. They fought for it for 203 days. The remaining buildings of the hospital were completely destroyed by the Nazis during the Second World War, leaving only the Rotunda. 20 years after the war it was made a monument.
After the liberation of the city, out of 20,000 buildings, just over 15,000 survived. The Nazis destroyed 18,227 houses. The Germans tried to destroy everything in the city.
All that remains of the clinical hospital is the Rotunda.
Now the place of memory has been ennobled and cared for. There is a memorial plaque. A memory for young people so that it doesn’t happen again.
