"We went to the Tuymada Ysyakh. Despite complaints from other visitors, we loved everything! The journey took 1:20 minutes. We arrived from the direction of the Atlasov Estate. We watched the first day of the Dygyna Games. Then we had dinner in a makeshift tent 😊 We pitched a tent. Then, until 2 a.m., there was concert after concert 👍🏼 We slept in the shade in the tent. The neighbors were noisy, but that's not a big deal 😅 And in the morning, we packed up and carried our things to the car. Then we had a delicious breakfast and lunch at the vendors. And from noon to 5 p.m., the Dygyna Games. The weather was perfect. We noticed that every year so many people dress up in national dress; it was a real joy. There were, of course, some "not so great" moments, but we were truly happy, because this is our YҺЫАХ! Thanks to our MAYOR! We respect and appreciate it!"

Understanding Ysyakh: A Cultural Immersion
Key elements of Ysyakh include the Olonkho (epic poetry performances), the Osuokhai (a traditional round dance symbolizing unity and the cycle of life), and the Dygyna Games, which showcase the physical prowess of Yakut athletes in disciplines like wrestling, horse racing, and archery. The festival also features numerous cultural exhibitions, craft fairs, and, of course, a continuous stream of musical and dance performances that last well into the night.
For visitors, Ysyakh offers a unique opportunity to experience authentic Yakut traditions firsthand. It's a chance to witness a living culture, engage with local customs, and feel the vibrant energy of a community coming together. The experience is often described as unforgettable and deeply moving, providing a profound connection to the indigenous heritage of the region.
Navigating the Festival Grounds
During the peak of the festival, the grounds can become quite crowded. Moving between different event areas might take time, so planning your schedule and allowing for buffer time is recommended. Many attendees choose to pitch tents, creating a temporary village within the festival site, which adds to the unique atmosphere. This also means that amenities like restrooms and water points are spread out, so staying aware of their locations is helpful.
For those not camping, day trips are possible, but to truly soak in the Ysyakh experience, staying overnight is highly recommended. The transition from daytime activities to the evening concerts and the communal morning rituals offers a complete immersion into the festival's spirit.
