"Great place to visit or sleep over. Interesting history. Needs renovation though..."

"It is wonderful that such masterpieces associated with our history are gradually being restored. Of course, the region has much less funds than Moscow, but about a third of the castle has already been restored. Heating and lighting have been installed in all rooms, this has already stopped the process of destruction from moisture, which was further accelerated in the 80s, when Mosfilm, for the filming of the series, “thought of” flooding the castle basements with water. Interesting excursions are held starting from 11 o'clock in the afternoon. And yes, like any self-respecting castle, there is a ghost here! :)
We got there from the M12, so we sailed on 2 ferries, first through the Sura, then through the Volga, this adds an additional flavor to the trip."
