What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Anse Cochon Beach is a hidden gem for snorkelers, boasting vibrant reefs and abundant marine life. While the beach itself is pleasant, access can be difficult due to resort policies, and visitors should be prepared for aggressive kayak salespeople. Despite these drawbacks, the exceptional snorkeling experience makes the effort worthwhile for many.
"We visited this beach back in March, on a week day just before 4 pm, we got to the resort gate and the security said there was no parking space available for the beach visitors. He did tell us another alternative to get to the beach. So if the same happens to you, it's quite easy. Just before crossing the bridge to the resort there is a thight turn, you can leave the car there, then you will see a narrowed footpath through the vegetation that will take you to the beach.
The beach it self is not too big and didn't have many people when we visited, it looks like is more for the guests of the resort. So it is a quiet spot.
The wonder of the beach leaves in the water! It's a great place for snorkeling, so many different species of colourful fish, it's really pretty.
So is definitely worth the adventure to get in to this beach.
Highly recommended."

"Nice beach associated with the hotel so $20 per person guest passes will need to be purchased at the main hotel lobby and then return to the front gate and turn down a VERY steep hill down to the beach.
The guest pass gets you access to beach chairs and $20 credit at the restaurant at the bottom of the hill on the beach.
Medium waves and not very crowed as most people seem to stay on or near the boats."

"A lovely beach with amazing snorkeling opportunities, lots of coral and fish!
However - this beach is let down by the aggressive kayak salespeople who simply do not leave you alone. As I walked on to the beach they immediately began calling me over, and I politely declined. Some men then approached me on the beach offering to take me snorkeling, I again declined despite their persistence. Then, as I entered the water, a man on a kayak blocked my way, first asking me lots of questions about my visit to St Lucia, then he started the aggressive sales tactics, telling me I needed a guide to snorkel, trying to tell me that I wasn't capable of seeing everything myself. I tried to access the water but he kept his kayak positioned in front of me. His sales tactics became more and more forceful despite my numerous objections. Thankfully, a tourist boat came in and he was distracted by the other visitors so I got to snorkel in peace eventually. I'm all for supporting local businesses, however, this guy and his 'colleagues' need to take no for an answer and let people enjoy the beach. It was especially worrying that he kept asking me how I got to the beach and when I said that I drove he seemed very interested in the fact that I'd came by car. I'd hidden my keys under a rock on the beach and Thankfully parked my car in the hotel private parking lot ($10 for parking) so it was safe.
I wouldn't mind at all if he tried his sales then went away when I said no, but the aggressive sales tactics made me very uncomfortable.
5 stars for the beach 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
0 stars for the kayak salespeople"

The Snorkeling Experience at Anse Cochon
While the natural beauty is undeniable, be prepared for potential interactions with local vendors offering guided snorkeling tours. Some visitors have reported these sales tactics as aggressive. It's advisable to have your own snorkel gear if possible, or to be very firm in declining services you don't want. Despite these interactions, the underwater spectacle at Anse Cochon remains a major draw for tourists seeking an authentic Caribbean marine experience.
Navigating Access and Resort Policies
For those seeking public access, a footpath exists, but it's described as challenging. It's an overgrown, potentially slippery trail requiring sturdy footwear and insect repellent. The coordinates for the start of this path are 13.925998, -61.054305. Some visitors have found success by parking their car before the resort entrance and then locating this path. Alternatively, arriving by boat bypasses these access issues entirely, offering a more straightforward way to enjoy the beach and reef.
