What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Millet Bird Sanctuary Trail as an underrated gem, highlighting the knowledgeable guides like Ken and the immersive rainforest experience. The affordable pricing for both hiking and birding tours is a significant draw. While the trail can be muddy and requires appropriate footwear, the natural beauty and wildlife encounters make it a highly recommended activity for nature lovers.
"This place is definitely underrated and I highly recommend! We had a great time on the hike and did just the trail which took 2 hours to complete. Ken was an amazing guide and we had a great conversation along the way. We took plenty of breaks to drink water, catch our breath, and enjoy some view points along the way.
They offer a bird watching tour for 30 USD per person. That goes into a sanctuary and then part of the way into the trail and back. They also offer just the hike which is 10 USD per person and it's a 2.8 km loop around. I think the prices are pretty fair.
The trail was great and takes you right into the heart of the forest and jungle. It is fairly moderate but has some steeper sections with stairs to climb. They do provide walking sticks. We did take frequent stops along the way so it never felt too difficult.
The trail is maintained but is still kept natural which we loved. It can get pretty muddy especially after showers, so I recommend wearing good shoes or ones you don't mind getting dirty, bring water, and bug spray as there's lots of mosquitoes deeper into the forest.
We drove down with our car, but there is a bus from Castries in the morning for 4.50 EC per person.
Overall, highly recommend this place! You get great guides and get to see the natural forest for a good price."

"Best experience while vacationing in St. Lucia. Even the non-birders said it was one of their favorite activities.
Out guide, Ken, was very knowledgeable about the region, and of course, the birds. We saw 4/5 of the endemic species on the island. In total, we saw 20 different bird species in less than 3 hours. Exciting!
Add this trip to your itinerary when visiting this beautiful island, you won't forget it!
What to know:
- Wear closed toed shoes! You will be turned away otherwise due to snakes.
- Arrive as early as possible if you want to see the parrots. We arrived at 6:45 AM after chatting with our guide first about the best times to see them. We saw them at the PERFECT time. By 8 AM ish, they were gone.
- The price is 10 USD per person for the hiking tour and 30 USD per person for the birding tour.
- Wear clothing appropriate for hiking, mud, and bugs.
- Bug spray"
