What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Pic Paradis for its spectacular panoramic views, calling it a must-see for its breathtaking island vistas. The relatively short hike from the accessible parking area is appreciated, though the rocky terrain requires good footwear. Some find the journey to the peak a bit challenging due to limited signage and bumpy roads, but the rewarding views make the effort worthwhile.
"This place a little difficult to find as no clear signs and it thru a residential area. It was an easy hike but it a rough surface rocky for most part. There are not much sign’s directing you which way to go. We parked before the private property sign and walked up. It took us 10-15 minutes to walk up the path where we saw one sign directing towards view.. We first came to a tower (no views)and then walked to one side where we were able to get spectacular views. There was no one else really around. Would recommend good walking shoes or sneakers but possible in crocs which is what we were wearing."

"Be aware that you can't go to the top by car, you need to walk around 1 km (0,6 miles). And the road after Lotery Farm is very bumpy and steep.
But you have many wonderful points of view on the way to the top."

"You can drive a long way up and only have to walk about 10 or 15 minutes to the top. And you'll be able to tell when to stop and park because the road gets pretty bad and rocky. It's not a great view but ok. It's not well marked, there's no signs, but if you're facing the radio tower, make sure you take that foot path to the left for the view with the sign. And you can also go around the radio tower, there's a little foot path to another view. Some really big cows and bulls might block the road from time to time driving up or down the mountain."

The Journey to the Summit
For those seeking a more challenging experience, hiking from the base, such as from Loterie Farm, is an option. This longer route can take over an hour and is considerably more strenuous, especially in the tropical heat. The reward, however, is the breathtaking scenery that unfolds as you ascend, with multiple viewpoints offering glimpses of the island's beauty before you even reach the peak.
It's important to note that while the final walk is short, the terrain is uneven. Visitors are advised to wear good walking shoes or sneakers, as flip-flops or sandals are not ideal. The lack of clear signage can also be a minor hurdle, but by following the path to the left of the radio tower, you'll find the primary viewing area.
Capturing the Magic: Photography at Pic Paradis
While the main viewpoint near the radio tower is spectacular, don't hesitate to explore the smaller footpaths around the area. These can lead to slightly different perspectives and potentially more secluded spots for capturing unique shots. Drone enthusiasts might find Pic Paradis an appealing location, offering aerial views of the island's topography, though it's always wise to check current drone regulations and be mindful of the radio tower's presence. Remember to bring your camera or smartphone, but also consider a wide-angle lens to truly do justice to the sweeping panoramas.
