Planning Your Visit

Timing is Key for Spiritual Serenity

Visit Masjid Quba during off-peak hours to fully absorb its spiritual significance. Early mornings or late afternoons offer a more peaceful experience, avoiding the midday crowds and heat. Consider visiting on a Saturday, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traditionally visited on this day, though it can also be busier.

Understand the Umrah Reward

Performing two rak'ahs (units) of prayer at Masjid Quba after purifying yourself at home is equivalent to performing an Umrah. This profound spiritual benefit draws many visitors, so be prepared for a reverent atmosphere and a significant number of worshippers.

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Masjid Quba as the first mosque in Islam, highlighting its immense spiritual significance and the profound reward of performing prayers there, equivalent to an Umrah. The modern renovations have greatly improved comfort and accessibility, with many appreciating the clean facilities and helpful staff. However, some guests have noted challenges in navigating the mosque's layout and have experienced uncooperative security personnel.

"This is the first mosque in Islam, built by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after migrating to Madinah.

"Whoever purifies himself in his house, then comes to the Quba' Mosque and offers one prayer therein, will have a reward like that for Umrah." - Source: Ibn Majah, Sunan, 1412.

Although the hadith above makes no mention of a certain day or time for receiving the Umrah reward, it is encouraged to do so on Saturday, as the prophet ﷺ used to visit the mosque every Saturday, either by foot or on horseback.

The outside is a bit spacious and bright white in color. The piazza has umbrellas and cooling fans, reminding me of the mosque Nawabi. Inside, it reminded me of praying at my native mosque.

When entering the mosque from the outside, it's difficult to locate the men's and women's praying areas as well as the ablution space. We also had difficulty in returning to the gate from where we entered the mosque for prayer.

The guard in front of the inner gate was harsh and uncooperative. Nowhere did they mention to keep shoes in the shoe racks. Since the shoe racks were full with shoes, I kept my shoes grounded beside one of the shoe racks. After prayer, many individuals, including myself, couldn't find our shoes, as they dumped all the shoes that were not placed inside the shoe racks.

That would be acceptable if spaces were available in the shoe rack or they provided a verbal or written instruction prior that all shoes must be kept in the shoe rack; otherwise, those will be dumped.

There is a free dedicated parking area, and parking isn't allowed in front of the mosque premises."

"Beautiful peaceful masjid.

First built in the lifetime of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in the 7th century CE. It is thought to be the first mosque in the world, established on the first day of Muhammad's emigration to Medina. Its first stone is said to have been laid by the prophet, and the structure completed by his companions.

The mosque was subsequently modified across the centuries until the 1980s, when it was completely replaced by a new building that stands today."

"Masjid Quba is the very first mosque built in the history of Islam, established by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ upon his arrival in Madinah. It is mentioned in the Qur’an (Surah At-Tawbah, verse 108) as a mosque founded on piety and righteousness. The Prophet ﷺ also said that performing two rak‘ahs of prayer in Masjid Quba is equal in reward to performing an ‘Umrah.

The mosque is beautifully designed, well-maintained, and offers a very peaceful environment for worship. Its spiritual atmosphere makes it a must-visit place for every pilgrim or visitor to Madinah, both for its historic value and its immense religious virtues."
