Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Name of Mary Church for its magnificent Gothic Revival architecture and the striking beauty of its Zsolnay ceramic roof. Many highlight the peaceful and serene atmosphere inside, making it a tranquil retreat. While some find the wooden benches uncomfortable, the overall experience is highly regarded for its historical significance and visual splendor.

"A magnificent Catholic Church, originating in 1719 and rebuilt because of war and fire. It’s the centrepiece to my life as I was Christened there and as a family attended regular mass there when we lived in Novi Sad. I still visit each time I’m at home.
The scale of the church is stunning, symbolising the heart of Novi Sad. I’ve always felt it should be a cathedral because of its sheer size but it’s not. In fact, it has a dominating spire seen throughout the city and can easily be seen when looking down from the #Petrovaradin Fortress across the Danube.
The roof tiles were made of Hungarian #Zsolnay ceramics that glimmer throughout the day. It is the third tallest church in the Bačka region after the Church of Saint Virgin Mary in Bačka Topola and Church of Saint Stephan in Sombor.
There is also a peaceful church square to one side, full of coffee places, leading to some of the oldest parts of the city.
A beautiful place to retreat and absorb the history of the region."

ILONA PURCELL

"The Catholic Cathedral in Novi Sad is one of the most beautiful landmarks in the city, especially striking during sunset when the light hits its detailed facade. The architecture is truly impressive and stands out in the heart of the city center. Like in many churches, the wooden benches are not very comfortable, but that is a small detail compared to the atmosphere and visual beauty of the interior and exterior. It is a peaceful place to pause and reflect, and well worth visiting whether you are religious or simply admire historical architecture."

"Nice organ concerts. I enjoy the peace and tranquility every time I come to this church, even though I'm not catholic."
