What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are deeply impressed by Malakhov Kurgan's historical significance and well-maintained grounds, often highlighting the panoramic views and the poignant Eternal Flame. However, some reviews mention negative interactions with museum staff, which can detract from the experience. Despite this, the site is widely recommended for its historical depth and scenic beauty.
"I was impressed by this place, everything is so well-kept and the atmosphere is calm, the birds are singing, you just want to go back there. There is a large parking lot, there are toilets on the territory so you don't have to run through the bushes 😅 It is also worth noting the exhibits that are scattered around the mound, there is something to see 👍"
Заур Шугушев
"A beautiful historical place. An excellent panorama with guns and attributes of the past war. Near the eternal flame, under the glass floor, you can see ancient excavations and catacombs of past years, in which the military of that time held a siege. Numerous trees and a beautiful view of the bay add to the picture. I recommend visiting and just enjoying the moments of history and the beautiful view of Sevastopol Bay."

"I'll start with the bad news right away - the mood and impression from visiting the museum complex (bastion) was spoiled by rude shouts at visitors by the museum staff.
February 22, 1958 is the anniversary of the lighting of the first Eternal Flame in the USSR, dedicated to the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. The torch was lit on the defensive tower of Malakhov Kurgan by Hero of the Soviet Union Admiral F.S. Oktyabrsky.
The territory of the mound is vast, a beautiful park is laid out, the Alley of Friendship (trees were planted by honored guests such as Yu.A. Gagarin, K. Voroshilov, etc.). Here is the interweaving of history and memory of two wars that took place in recent centuries on this land.
It is noteworthy that in memory of Malakhov Kurgan, streets and metro stations in Russia, France and Great Britain are named."
