What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise The Singapore Buddhist Lodge for its serene atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and the generous offering of free vegetarian meals. Many appreciate the peaceful ambiance for reflection and the additional facilities like the library and TCM clinic. However, some reviews mention occasional disruptions from loud staff or other visitors, and the air conditioning in the main hall was noted as not always being operational.
"A beautiful temple with majestic Buddha statue. The place is a bit out of the way though but it would be nice to visit just to admire the cultural aspects of it. Many months ago when I visited, the main hall was air conditioned. The current visit in Sep 2025, the air con was not on. I am not familiar with the operating protocols of the air con.
The volunteers or staff maintaining the hall tend to talk very loudly in their interactions. At one point, one of them raised her voice at a black lady sitting on a kneeling stool. I think these volunteers or staff should be trained in how to manage themselves so as not to distrupt the serenity of the place.
Over at the canteen which serves vegetarian food, at time there would be prcs and other diners playing their HPs loudly. It would be good for the temple to incorporate a rule not to use the hp loudly as the tranquility of the place would be disrupted. Also I encountered PRCs diners leaving their plates and bowls unwashed. I am not sure if the rule for self washing was included.
Nearest MRT appears to be Fort Canning."
